TERRESTRIAL LASER SCANERSAMPLE AREAS OF APPLICATION:Civil Engineering applications – Roads, Buildings , High rise structures, and Irrigation, Survey Monitoring, Infrastructure vertical, Topography & Mining, Archaeology & Cultural Heritage, City planning, modelling and extensions WHAT IS TERRESTRIAL LASER SCANNING?Use of a ground based device that uses a laser to measure the three dimensional coordinates of a given region of an object’s surface automatically, in a systematic order at a high rate in (near) real time. TYPICAL PROCESSThis process involves transmission of laser pulse to the surface of the object which reflects the laser signal back to the instrument. The distance between the instrument and the object is determined by multiplying the light velocity with half the time-of-flight. Geo referencing with the known survey control points, the three dimensional coordinates of each single point on the surface of object is known. |
